91 TURTLES ON TURTLE POND TODAY!

I was standing at my kitchen window a little while ago when I captured these images. I quietly opened the door to get some close-up shots. The second I stepped outside those miniature, green, armored combat vehicle look-a-likes scattered at lightning speed! I sat close to the water and fed the troops, hoping that they would allow me to watch as they would once again breach the levies and resume a fight formation!

As I sat there, in my mind, I was transported to Europe!

The day and time in history was December 26, 1944, World War II. The critical German offensive, The Battle of the Bulge, that would allow those Nazi bastards to capture and rule Bastogne, Belgium was in it’s full brutal swing. Moving forward, thru the Ardennes Forest, a win meant that the Germans would have control over the all-important roads to the north which would allow them to take France by storm and set their sights on England and the United States.

Bastogne was barely hanging on, in large part because of the valiant effort of the badly bruised and battered US troops of the 101st Airborne!

At a point when it was almost certain that the US troops would fail to beat the Germans, a German officer sent the order to general McAuliffe to surrender. McAuliffe’s one word answer to the demand was, “NUTS!”

When only a Hail Mary pass would win the game, Ike sent in, as quarterback, old “blood and guts “ himself, George Patton!
He studied the field and the players, reassured the 101st and the citizens of Bastogne, bucked up his troops, literally wheeled his third army in a sharp 90° in a counter thrust movement and broke through the German lines! He watched as his tanks with lightning speed held their formation, broke through the line and pushed the Germans back in their own territory, then let go of a spiral with the Blessed mother on his side!

TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!
